Amici's Vegan Pizza

So by now I’m sure that most of you Bay Area folks have heard the rumor that Amici’s Pizzeria is serving up vegan cheese pizza at all 11 of their Bay Area locations.  Well, it’s true, and the pizza is AMAZING. So amazing, in fact, that I’m willing to bet that I’ve eaten my weight in vegan pizza in the past month.

They’re using Cheezly, (which is now officially my favorite vegan cheese) and they definitely don’t skimp on it- or any of their toppings for that matter. And the best part is that they deliver, so you can have this melty deliciousness delivered right to your home! Vegan pizza + not having to leave my home to get it = the best deal ever. 

I hope Amici’s continues to be so good to us vegans- how awesome would it be to see a vegan chicken parmesan on the menu one day?!

Nutritional Yeast - I Love You!

Not many people know about the health benefits of nutritional yeast since the main people that seek it out are Vegans who want extra B vitamins.  That being said - Nutritional Yeast is tasty on pretty much anything (maybe not coffee or a bowl of cereal).  While I was eating my faux chicken soup for lunch I figured I'd read a bit about the health benefits and stumbled upon some recipes for non-dairy creamy foods using nutritional yeast.

Personally, I love putting it on Spaghetti, in soup, over vegan pizza, etc.  Think of it as cheese and you're good to go.

City, O' City - Denver, CO

The chickpea and the String Bean went to Denver last weekend for a wedding.  After the first night we needed something oily, scrumptious and satisfying to fill our bellies.  So, we took a nice walk to City, O' City for some Seitan Buffalo Wings and Vegan Pizza.

The Buffalo Wings were absolutely amazing and if I lived near this place I'd eat them daily (not kidding).  The pizza was OK (a little dry) but tasty nonetheless.

So, if you're in Denver definitely go to City, O' City or WaterCourse Foods (they have two restaurants (I like parenthesis)).

Liz Lovely: Chocolate Vegan Deliciousness

We received some vegan treats from Liz Lovely in the mail recently. Very exciting! Check out their About Us section - I don't think there's a better mission statement out there. I love their story. I think everyone dreams about quitting their jobs and moving to Vermont and starting a cookie business. Well. I do.

We got three kinds of cookie: Dark Chocolate Pretzels, Ginger Snapdragons and Lovely Oh's.

My favorite out of the bunch were the Lovely Oh's: these are a chocolate dipped mint Newmans O's style cookie. They were delicious!

The dark chocolate covered pretzels were also tasty. The pretzels were pretty thin though so it was mostly chocolate with a hint of pretzel.

The Ginger Snapdragons were probably my least favorite. I love ginger but the flavor was pretty intense in these cookies. String Bean loved em though so it really just depends on how gingery you like your cookie. They did have a really nice consistency though and even had candied ginger on top!

These are the kind of sweets to eat very slowly. They're rich, dark and intense with flavor. Liz Lovely is not for inhaling but s a v o r i n g.

If you do the Valentine's Day thing, then Happy Valentine's Day. These would be great gifts for your crush...
