A nice little article on veganism to end your week

I just found this article about people becoming vegan from the Tahlequah Daily Press.  My favorite part says:

The term "veganism" simply refers to the philosophy or lifestyle choice a person makes to eliminate the use of animals as food, clothing or for any other purpose in their daily lives. Some choose veganism to avoid inflicting suffering on animals in factory farms, fur farms, and laboratories; others, simply to enjoy the health benefits of a plant-based diet.
Vegans in America are by no means a majority, but for whatever reason, a growing number are making the choice to "go veg."
A Time/CNN poll taken in 2002 found 4 percent of American adults consider themselves vegetarians, and of this group, 5 percent consider themselves vegans. This means 0.2 percent of American adults are vegans -- or a little more than 600,000.

Overall, the best aspect of this article is it's actually pro-vegan all the way through.  Very nice.

Story of Boris the Bull

Here's another video from the Hillside Animal Sanctuary which has a sad but positive ending.  It's a very difficult video but does end happily for some animals.  Also, please don't think these videos are one-off situations.

Factory Farming Today

I'm sorry to keep posting these videos but they are reality.  This video, from The Hillside Animal Sanctuary shows real footage of factory farming conditions in the UK.  Please be aware there are graphic images of dead and dying animals in this film.

Mad Cow Disease - An hour long documentary

Here is a fantastic but extremely disturbing documentary on BSE (Mad Cow Disease).  The video is from the Korean National Broadcasting System so the subtitles aren't very good but the content itself is informative and shocking.
